4 steps to maintain your sanity, while raising kids

0

Keeping ourselves a sane parent while raising kids can be really difficult. Being a parent is one of the hardest jobs out there. You not only have to keep this little person healthy, and well, but you have to make sure they become a good person and self-sufficient when they are older. While we are so consumed with making sure your children are okay and healthy, many times we forget about ourselves.  We push ourselves so far to the point that we think we are going crazy. And that’s not good! To be the best parent we can be, we have to remember that we have to focus on ourselves sometimes. Here are some tips on how you can maintain your sanity while raising kids:

  1. Schedule a day just for yourself.  Whether this is rotating watching the kids with your partner or you finding a babysitter make sure you take some time where you have a day where you can do all the thigs you want to do. It can be as simple as having a quite home to read in, or taking some time to go shopping in peace. It is the little moments of silence that really truly help to maintain your sanity.
  2. It’s okay to have a messy home. When you have kids, you will drive yourself insane if you try to keep things perfect all the time.  Little hands are still learning the concept of cleaning up or keeping things clean.  If you are resigned that the house is just not going to be as spotless as it once was before kids, you can save yourself a lot of stress.  Things will be messy with little kids, so embrace them!
  3. Try to keep it organised. While keeping a super clean home is near impossible, it is always helpful to keep things at least organised.  Between all of your kid’s toys, papers from school and such, it can feel like you are drowning in a mess.  Keeping things separated and labeled.  Everything should have its proper place.  You will feel a bit less stressed when you take the time to organised things.  This will help mornings getting the kids off to school a lot faster and with a lot less yelling because you’re not constantly looking for things.sanity_second
  4. Ask for help. We all want to be Super Mom or Super Dad, so we may try not to ask for help when we really truly need it. But it’s important to remember not to burn yourself out. Don’t be ashamed to ask for help to maintain your sanity. Why drive yourself to the ground when there are people there can help you? If your child was struggling, you would want them to ask for help, right? So be a good example of this.
